Charcoal and nothing else — a Greek-language site for a grill house in Kiti, Larnaca.
A charcoal grill house that has been running since 1999 and had no web presence worth the name. The site had to feel like the place: dark, warm, unhurried, and in Greek throughout.
Built around a full-bleed video of the grill, with the entire menu and an ordering flow underneath it.
Hosted here as a showcase copy — the client's own domain is withheld at the owner's request.
The problem
A charcoal grill house loved locally since 1999 — and invisible online. The menu lived on paper, orders came by phone from customers who couldn't see what to order.
How we worked
I built the site around how the restaurant actually operates instead of forcing an ops model it can't run: the basket builds the order, and the handoff is a phone call or Wolt — no online payments to manage, no dashboard to maintain, nothing that needs staff.
What was delivered
A cinematic Greek-language site that feels like the place: the grill on video, the full 40-plus item menu with prices, an ordering flow, Wolt and maps built in. Fast on a phone on mobile data, and effectively zero running cost.
- The order flow ends at a phone call on purpose: the restaurant has no staff to manage online payments or delivery logistics, so the basket builds the order and the handoff is a call or Wolt — matching the site to the business's real operations instead of building features they can't run.
- The hero video carries the brand, so it got a weight budget: two encodes, with the lighter 720p source served to mobile so the page still opens fast on cellular data.
- A 40-plus item menu is data, not markup — items live in one structure that renders the menu, the basket and the order summary, so a price change is one edit.
- Greek-only, deliberately: the clientele is local, and a half-translated English version would have cost trust rather than earned reach.
